No feminism without anti-ableism

Here’s a less palatable message, but progress doesn’t happen without speaking uncomfortable truths. Uncomfortable truth: disabled women only have a 17% chance of NOT being sexually assaulted and/or raped in their lifetimes.* This is not because they are all “defenseless or silent”, as a popular abled feminist explained away the statistic, but because they are oppressed and silenced under ableism.
Dear abled feminists, I wish I had a happier message, but it’s time to pass the mic. It’s time to listen.
It’s time to join the fight against ableism.
